Alice B. Toklas

Alice B. Toklas was born on April 30, 1877, in San Francisco. She was a prominent member of the Parisian avant-garde of the early 20th century and the long-time lover of U.S. writer Gertrude Stein. In 1971, the Alice B. Toklas Memorial Democratic Club, the first registered LGBT Democratic Party club in the United States, was founded.
